We begin with the boy.
A small, relationship-driven learning community for boys ages 10–18. Not a conventional private school. Not a tutoring center. Serious education, built around how boys actually grow.
What is Moreana?
Moreana is a rarely used word that evokes the spirit and virtue of Saint Thomas More — the 15th- and 16th-century humanist, philosopher, lawyer, and civil servant. More was a lifelong learner and a devout servant of God. He believed piety was not reserved for clergy and nobility; rather, that all men had the propensity for piety. He wrote extensively on theology, law, and — more famously — the unobtainable concept of Utopia.
Moreana Boys Academy is named for Saint Thomas More, who lived and died a faithful servant to the people of Britain, but to God first. We strive to instill his character into our staff and students.
Our four chief virtues — Wisdom, Courage, Justice, and Temperance — are drawn from Marcus Aurelius, the 2nd-century Roman emperor and Stoic. We believe these virtues are the foundation of all honorable men.

MBA exists to partner with families in educating and mentoring boys through individualized academics, intentional discipleship, meaningful relationships, experiential learning, and servant leadership — equipping them to become wise, courageous, just, and self-controlled young men who honor God and positively influence their families, workplaces, churches, and communities.
We envision a generation of young men who possess not only strong academic foundations, but also unwavering character, practical wisdom, and genuine compassion. Success is not measured solely by grades or college letters. The greater measure is the kind of men our students become.
Our system
- Small cohorts so a boy cannot disappear into a crowd. A 6:1 student-to-coach target is how we operate.
- A mixed-age brotherhood (ages 10–18). Older boys lead. Younger boys watch what is ahead of them.
- Coaching, not constant lecturing. The goal is a boy who owns his education.
- Mornings for concentrated academic work. Afternoons for enrichment, projects, movement, and workshops.
- Families remain partners in curriculum. Different boys in the same room may be on different courses — on purpose.
- Character is coached in the moment: arrive prepared, finish the hard thing, help a younger student, clean up, keep the commitment.

The difference
Traditional school is designed around efficiency. We start with the boy.
One curriculum, one schedule, one pace, large groups moving through the same material together — that is a design for managing students. Moreana is a design for knowing them.
What does he already know? Where does he need help? What interests him? How does he learn? What responsibilities is he ready to carry? Then we build the week around those answers, and surround him with coaches, peers, expectations, physical challenge, and work that has an obvious purpose.
Fit, not failure
A boy does not have to be failing elsewhere to belong here.
Independent learners. Boys who need more movement. Boys who dislike large institutions. Advanced students who want more freedom. Students who need additional academic support. Hands-on learners. Boys who want stronger adult mentorship. Students interested in athletics, technology, trades, entrepreneurship, or creative work. Boys who have become disengaged — and boys who are doing fine and still want a different kind of education.
The Pulitzer of education innovation
2026 Yass Prize Contender
In 2026, Moreana Boys Academy was selected nationally as a Yass Prize Contender. The $1 million Yass Prize is called the Pulitzer of education innovation — a competition that draws thousands of schools and providers. Contender status is a rare honor. It recognizes a model built on individualized academics, mentorship, experiential learning, and preparing boys for life.

Growth
Scale the opportunity without industrializing the experience. The long-term vision is to bring this model to additional communities across Arizona. Today there is one campus: Chandler. Growth should preserve small cohorts, strong adult–student relationships, personalized academics, local partnerships, and Moreana culture.

A learning community, not an institution.
The Chandler campus at 1075 E Riggs Road is about 3,500 square feet — multiple learning spaces that can be configured for academics, enrichment, projects, and student community.
Its smaller environment is the point. Classrooms, common areas, a kitchen, an intervention room, and an enrichment library. Come walk it with us.
